The resultant crystalline honey, a Biocide, is non-sticky, pH neutral, hygroscopic (water attractive, osmotic) and biocidal. Derived from any natural honey, it is completely safe and non-toxic. Part of the effectiveness is due to its oxygenation and piezoelectric effect from the manufacturing process – a new class of biocides that are not volatile like bleach or alcohol for example. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration understand this inherent biocide property in honey as an anaerobic carbohydrate that nothing can live in or on the surface of. In many cases honey was used on infected lesions not responding to standard antibiotic and antiseptic therapy. It was found to be effective in rapidly clearing up infection and promoting healing.
